Step-by-step guide4 steps
1. Access the Deal Dashboard
Open your Deal Dashboard page where all of your ingested deals are listed. This is the central place to view, manage, and track every deal currently in the system.
2. Ingest a New Deal
To ingest a new deal, you can either click on the New Deal button or use the sync option to pull deals from your connected sources.
3. Sync Deals from Connected Sources
When you click the sync button, the system checks for differences across all your connected sources and automatically brings in closed deals from those sources into the Deal Dashboard.
4. Allow AI Review and Reviewer Assignment
Immediately after a deal is ingested, it goes through an AI review process. Based on your configured settings, the system then assigns the default, most relevant reviewer to the deal automatically.
Deal overview, sources & checklist
Review the deal overview, resolve items that need attention, and complete the checklist with source-backed answers.

Step-by-step guide4 steps
1. Open and Review the Synced Deal Overview
Locate and open the deal you just synced to Fina to begin your review.
In the Overview section, review the key information about the deal, including the facts and evidence automatically extracted by the AI during processing. Confirm that the extracted details align with the underlying contract and your expectations.
2. Review Items in the Needs Attention Section
Navigate to the Needs Attention section.
Review all items listed there, as these represent questions, issues, or missing information that must be resolved to complete the review of this deal. Plan how you will address each item (e.g., by updating data, consulting documents, or making a judgment call).
3. Examine Documents in the Contract Lifecycle
Go to the Contract Lifecycle area. Review the documents that were ingested during the sync, such as the main agreement and any related documents. Add any additional side letters, amendments, or attachments that are relevant to the deal so that Fina can reference them during analysis.
4. Complete the ASC Checklist Review with AI Support
Open the Checklist Review section to work through the ASC checklist. As you move through each checklist question, note that when the agreement clearly answers a question, Fina will automatically draft a proposed answer and cite the exact source passage in the supporting document.
If Fina cannot find a definitive answer, or if the answer requires human judgment, it will flag that item for you (the preparer) to review and complete manually. Continue until all flagged items are resolved and the checklist is fully answered.
Reviewing performance obligations and transaction price
Review AI-identified obligations, document edits, and confirm the calculated transaction price.

Step-by-step guide4 steps
1. Review AI-Identified Performance Obligations
In step two, AI has automatically identified the performance obligations across the order forms and the contract. You can review the accounting reasoning, the mapped products, and the mapped order forms that support these obligations.
2. Edit a Performance Obligation
If your team wants to edit any of the performance obligations, you can do so directly in this view. For example, select the performance obligation “Premium Supports” to begin editing its details.
3. Review Impacted Checklist Items and Provide Change Reason
When you edit a performance obligation, the system will automatically identify which checklist items are impacted by this change.
You will then be prompted to provide a reason for the change. Enter a clear explanation so that your team can review and approve the update before it is applied.
Once the change is confirmed, the accounting reasoning will be updated across the platform to reflect the new performance obligation details.
4. Review AI-Calculated Transaction Price
In step three, AI automatically determines the transaction price across the order forms. In this example, the contract does not contain any additional credits or reductions, so the calculated transaction price is based solely on the existing order form terms.
Your team can enter any necessary adjustments to the transaction price here before proceeding to the allocation step.
Allocating transaction price using SSP policy
Validate the AI-prepared allocation against the approved standalone selling price (SSP) policy.
The video couldn’t play. Open the video directly.
Step-by-step guide4 steps
1. Review the AI Allocation for the Selected Performance Obligation
Start by examining the AI-prepared allocation of the transaction price for the relevant performance obligation (for example, training services).
The AI uses the approved standalone selling price (SSP) policy to determine the appropriate allocation amount.
In the example shown, the customer has been quoted USD 20,000 for ten training sessions, which is below the approved SSP range of USD 25,000 to USD 30,000.
2. Confirm the SSP Applied by the AI
Verify that the AI has correctly applied the midpoint of the approved SSP range—USD 27,500 in this example—when the quoted price falls below the approved range.
This behavior is defined in the SSP policy and should be consistently applied across similar transactions.
3. Open and Review the SSP Policy in the Policy Library
Navigate to the policy library in your system and open the relevant SSP policy to confirm:
- The approved SSP range (e.g., USD 25,000 to USD 30,000 for training).
- The rule that directs the AI to use the midpoint of the range when the quoted price is outside the approved range.
4. Check Policy Approvals and Exercise Judgment
Within the policy record, review who approved the SSP policy and any related approval details (such as approval date and role).
Use this information, along with the policy rules, to make and document your professional judgment on whether the AI allocation is appropriate for the specific transaction.
Adjusting the revenue recognition schedule
Adjust monthly planned hours and review the effect on the revenue forecast and related checklist items.
The video couldn’t play. Open the video directly.
Step-by-step guide3 steps
1. Review the Suggested Revenue Recognition Method
AI has suggested a recognition method for each performance obligation, including the measure of progress. For implementation services, revenue is recognized over time based on hours incurred relative to the total estimated hours. Your team will provide the monthly planned hours that drive this calculation.
2. Adjust Monthly Planned Hours for Implementation Services
To update the revenue forecast, shift 25 planned hours from June to July.
This adjustment will immediately show the impact on the revenue schedule and automatically update the forecasted schedule so that your team can review it before applying the change.
3. Apply Changes and Review Impacted Items
After reviewing the updated forecasted schedule, apply the changes. Once applied, you can see all affected checklist items along with the source citation, allowing your team to validate and document the changes to revenue recognition.
Reviewing revenue schedules and journal entries
Explore the revenue schedule, inspect monthly calculations, and review the corresponding draft journal entries.
The video couldn’t play. Open the video directly.
Step-by-step guide3 steps
1. View and Filter the Revenue Schedule
The system uses your configured recognition methods and progress measures, together with your team’s monthly plan, to automatically calculate the revenue schedule. You can review the full deal’s schedule on this screen, or filter it by specific performance obligations to narrow your view.
For example, apply a filter to show only the “Implementation Services” performance obligation.
2. Open Monthly Revenue Calculations
In the filtered (or full) revenue schedule, locate the month you want to analyze—such as February—and click on that month’s revenue amount. This opens the detailed calculation for that month so you can review how the system derived the scheduled revenue.
3. Review Draft Journal Entries
After reviewing the monthly calculation, navigate to the Journal Entries section.
Here, you can see that the system has automatically generated draft journal entries based on the revenue schedule, ready for your team to review and approve.
Analyzing contract clauses with Fina

The video couldn’t play. Open the video directly.
Step-by-step guide5 steps
1. Ask Fina a Contract Clause Question
Start by asking Fina a specific question about a contract clause (for example, a termination clause, renewal terms, or liability cap). Fina supports multiple use cases such as revenue analysis, contract analysis, deal comparison, and dashboard generation.
2. Review Findings and Supporting Sources
Fina will compile all relevant findings related to your query, present the key insights, and automatically generate a dashboard. It will also display supporting sources and citations so you can verify the information.
You can click on any citation to open the referenced source.
3. View Highlighted Clauses in the Contract
After opening a citation, review the original contract. The specific clause relevant to your question will be highlighted inside the contract document for easy reference.
4. Explore the Dashboard Overview and Deal Details
Switch to the dashboard view to see an overview of the analysis, including aggregated metrics and visualizations. From the dashboard, click on the contract value or similar metrics to drill down and see the underlying deals and detailed data.
5. Save the Report for Future Access
Once you are satisfied with the analysis and dashboard, save the report so you can revisit it later without repeating the query or setup.
